Bollywood Baraat the Movie!
The World Premiere took place on Thursday 13th October. The glamorous event saw cast members, dancers, crew, family and friends all walk up the red carpet.
Drinks and samosas were served as people mingled, laughed and chatted at the pre-screening reception. Once the film started, there were claps and cheers from the audience, and the Aunties proved just as popular as the live performance.Saturday 15th October gave people a second chance to see Bollywood Baraat the Movie and many of the schools involved attended. Both screenings took place at Harbour Lights Picturehouse and were shown as part of Southampton Film Week 2011.

Bollywood Baraat - Saturday 21st May 2011
4500 of you joined us for Southampton’s biggest wedding of the year. You shared the highs and lows of love with Arti and Jay. You witnessed the elderly Aunties rap like 50 Cent! You cheered as the groom arrived by horse with his Baraat (procession) of 120 school children, Dhol drums and Bollywood Brass Band. We laughed, we danced and it did end happily ever after with a big Bollywood number.
The all-singing, all-dancing outdoor spectacular blended live theatre and film in Southampton’s Guildhall Square, thank you to all those that came and have contacted us about how much you enjoyed the event. If you have comments or photos to share you can upload them on this site or on Facebook.
“The most entertaining night out I've had for a long time. Thank you!”
“Thank you for an amazing evening!”
“Well done to all involved - a wonderful event and we had a fab evening”
“"It was amazing show I can't believe it, I really love it and enjoyed it sooo...much. I really hope they do show like this again”
Bollywood Baraat was an ambitious 10-month project led by Art Asia in partnership with City Eye, the Nuffield Theatre and the John Hansard Gallery. With a specially commissioned script, original soundtrack and a series of community workshops a total of 380 people were involved in the creating of Southampton’s Wedding of the Year!
Bollywood Baraat will now be made into Southampton’s own Bollywood film premièring later this year at Southampton Film Week.
